Custom Training
Looking for world class diver education, but the intense group training concept turns you off? Or perhaps our schedules don’t meet yours? For divers looking for a more individualized experience or a more flexible schedule, we are now offering customized training in shorter smaller clinics that still offer all of the cutting edge training that you have come to expect from our comprehensive educational programs. For your convenience, we are scheduling a number of extended weekend seminars or weeklong training events that give you a more flexible alternative to our boot camp or university programs. In these programs we have pre-packaged the most common combinations of courses into easily digested blocks that still give you the opportunity to build upon basic skills and obtain a finished product, while still under the supervision of your instructor. These courses also provide more individualized attention with no more than four students per instructor in any given program.
If you still need something with a more customized schedule, or perhaps you prefer private instruction, you can also work with one of our instructors on a daily fee basis plus any expenses. This option is particularly attractive for individuals who demand private and discreet courses or for those who have schedules that make any other option impossible. The course packages reflected here are available as well as any custom schedule of individual courses (as long as scheduling meets course requirements).
Private or privately arranged courses may be taken at any location around the world providing that a safe training site suitable for the training level is available. In the event that a site lacks the logistics support such as trained boat crews, oxygen or helium availability, technical equipment, etc., divers will need to make arrangements to have these items brought in. In most locations where the raw materials are available, logistic support like blending equipment can be provided by our instructors for the cost of shipping.
Our packages are:
Basic Tech – This program requires four days and can be completed in a high capacity single tank gear configuration with a stage bottle. It provides the following training: a review of Basic Nitrox principles (or an introduction if not previously certified), Advanced Nitrox, and Decompression Procedures. Divers in this program will receive a comprehensive introduction to the techniques and principles used in technical diving and
will have the opportunity to qualify for full decompression dives to 45 meters (150 feet). This course requires certification as an advanced open water diver or as open water diver with at least twenty-five logged dives as a prerequisite.
Technical Deep Program – This program requires six days and covers the advanced physics, physiology and technical skills required to make Helium based mixed gas dives to 65 meters (200 feet) A special emphasis is placed on understanding and managing the effects of nitrogen narcosis in the depth range between 45 and 65 meters (150 and 200 feet). This course requires certification in both Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures from an internationally recognized training agency prior to enrollment. Divers desiring to go deeper can add level 2 or level 3 TRIMIX courses to qualify for dives up to 100 meters (330 fsw) after completion of this program.
Technical Wreck Diver – Many divers confuse this with the standard recreational course but in reality it goes far beyond those courses to include full penetration into the narrow, most restrictive passageways that make up the innermost compartments of a shipwreck. Although the training agencies do not require it, we require Decompression Procedures as a prerequisite for our Technical Wreck course and we strongly recommend Advanced Nitrox. This course can be combined with the Basic Tech package or by adding just one additional day you can complete Decompression Procedures in conjunction with Advanced Wreck. This course can generally be completed over a four day period and is open to any advance open water diver or any open water diver with at least twenty-five logged dives.
Intro to Cave – Of all the places to learn peak buoyancy control, cave courses are probably the most effective and the cave environment itself will be your most critical evaluator. This intro program combines cavern diver with the Intro to Cave course and it is completed in a single tank with H valve (no stage bottle) configuration. Come find out what is really inside those deep dark holes – hint, if they were really just deep, dark holes, tens of thousands of people would not be visiting them safely every year. This course is usually completed in four days and it is open to any advanced open water diver or any open water diver with twenty-five or more logged dives.
Full Cave – This is an extension to the Intro to Cave program moving divers to twin tanks for more lengthy, complicated penetrations that allow access to even more interesting and beautiful cave areas. This course requires six days and is open to any certified intro to cave diver.
Advanced Stress and Rescue for Dive Professionals – This is an intensive and physically demanding course giving the diving professional advanced skills for accident prevention and effective responses. The program provides an in depth understanding of the common causes of dive accidents in various environments, pre-dive accident predictors missed by most professionals, the panic cycle and strategic responses for when accident occurs. Attendees should be in good health and prepared for extended, physically intensive water sessions. This is a 3 day continuing education program limited to Divemasters, Assistant Instructors, Instructors, Instructor Trainers, Public Safety Divers and Military Divers.
